Australian & International Success Recognised by Franchising Council of AustraliaThe exponential growth and success of Australian developed franchise, Bartercard, has seen the company announced winner of the Franchising Council of Australia, Franchise System of the Year Award. Bartercard won the category for franchises with entry capital of between $50,000 - $200,000. Of 7 awards presented this year, Bartercard won 2, including the Australian System Export Award. Australia has more franchises per capita than any other country in the world making this a highly competitive and very mature franchising country. Bartercard founders Wayne Sharpe, Andrew Federowsky and Brian Hall created the Bartercard Franchise system in 1992. Accepting the awards on behalf of the organisations was Managing Director, Brian Hall. To win these awards is a very great honour and we are proud of the systems and networks we have established to grow the Trade Exchange in Australia and around the world, said Mr Hall. Today, there are 109 offices globally with some 40,000 members participating in the worlds largest Trade Exchange. Its a great achievement that the most successful Trade Exchange is an Australian initiative and we are pleased to continue to offer such a good business opportunity for so many small to medium sized businesses around the world, he said. Bartercard franchises operate in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand, Kuwait, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan and United Arab Emirates. The Trade Dollar turnover globally for the past financial year was in excess of one billion Trade Dollars. The Bartercard network has been successfully introduced to many new countries over the past ten years and we look forward to further expansion in Australia and internationally, said Mr Hall. In the past twelve months the focus in Australia has been to expand the level of service and number of franchises in New South Wales. As a Queensland based organisation, our immediate success has been achieved in this state with very solid trading results for members and excellent returns over ten years for franchisees, said Mr Hall. To provide the best Trading network nationally, the focus in 2002 has been to establish the Bartercard franchises in New South Wales, in particular Sydney and outlying areas. To date, all available Sydney franchises have been established and we welcomed an additional 11 Bartercard Brokerages to the system, he said. We will continue this growth over the next twelve months with Victoria and regional New South Wales the areas sighted for development. Winning this award is testament that the Bartercard franchise system we have established works, and works well in many different environments It has been important that we continually develop systems that keep the Trade Exchange working as efficiently as possible, and this has included the construction of an Internet trading portal. Internet trading benefits both members and brokerages to reduce paperwork and speed up transactions. We will continue to look at ways to develop and better our business to ensure our franchisees have the best products and services available to service the worlds largest trade exchange.
