Foreign
hotel chains eye India
The Indian hospitality industry is poised for a windfall of multiple
brands from the stable of international hotel business houses. Unlike
in the past where skepticism on the Indian market led foreign hotel
majors to foray into the country with just one brand, today, Indias
fast growing tourism and hospitality industry is alluring big chains
like Hilton, Marriott, Starwood, Shangri-La, Carlson, InterContinental,
Accor, Hyatt and Choice to bring in their whole bouquet of brands.
Dixy Fried Chicken and Irish Pub comes to India
Panban International, importer and supplier of furniture, is diversifying
into two new businesses - quick service restaurant and pub and restaurant
business.
The company, in a joint venture with Dixy Fried Chicken Euro Ltd, has
launched Euro India Pvt Ltd. The company plans to open 100 outlets of
Euro India Pvt Ltd in India within the next five years, most of them
with a 60 to 70 seating capacity, and is looking for like-minded people
as franchisees. Panban has already signed up their first flagship store
for the Dixy brand to be opened in an area of 6,000 sq.ft in Noida.
Panban International has also launched the famous brand of world-class
Irish Pubs and Restaurants in collaboration with Irish pub company of
Dublin, Ireland. The company is by far the largest Pub Company in the
world with over 486 successful outlets globally. Their largest outlet
is spread over an area of 10,000 sq.ft in the New York hotel and Casino
on the strip in central Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
LeanPlus goes to Indian shores
LeanPlus, which helps firms eliminate hidden wastes in manufacturing,
assembly, customer service and distributions, launched its India operations
in Chennai, and it is the company's second office outside the US, after
Russia. LeanPlus India president Mike Wader informs that Larsen &
Toubro would be its first client. As per the contact, L&T would
implement the Lean tools, which are common sense practices
that identify and eliminate waste within process.
Manpower to set up 60 points in India
Manpower Inc., a Fortune 500 company in employment services space with
2004 sales revenue of $14.9 billion, is expanding into India, preferably
through the organic route, although it is not averse to acquisitions.
The company will have its presence in 50 to 60 points across the country
in the coming two years. The company has a worldwide network of 4,300
offices in 67 countries. Manpower provides permanent, temporary and
contract recruitment services, besides employee assessment, training
and career transition services.
