Continental Cafe FranchiseDélifrance launches flagship continental caféDélifrance (UK) Ltd has launched its first concept café . The boulangerie-style café on Deansgate in Manchester, specialises in traditional French breakfast products and sandwiches with a fully-licensed evening offer to come. Employing 20 staff with seating for up to 40 customers, the Délifrance proposition is to present a premium offer for every meal occasion to all consumers. With the sandwich being core to the business - currently representing 50% of total sales - the outlet meets an identified need for freshly prepared sandwiches made in front of the customer. A range of traditional, specially selected viennoiserie, patisserie and savouries, all sourced from within the Délifrance group, complements a number of healthy options such as a fresh 'help yourself' salad bar and a choice of fresh fruit and yoghurt for breakfast. A key point of difference to the competition is the availability of 'artisan' breads that are baked fresh, every day, using specially selected flours from the company's milling group, "Grands Moulins de Paris". nearly 600 Délifrance retail outlets worldwide, the opening
of the new UK store reflects the company's strategy to have at least
one company-owned, managed site in every country it trades in. Délifrance UK's Managing Director Ian Dobbie said: "The launch of Deansgate is the culmination of a lot of hard work and extensive consumer research. The site looks fantastic and replicates the exact look which came through in our research; it combines the feel of a traditional French boulangerie with an outlet that serves takeaway snacks while offering a relaxing, more formal restaurant environment. "The store is very much a showcase for anyone who wants to understand more about the Délifrance brand. It will provide a valuable source of real market data and trends and offers a perfect learning environment for existing and new franchisees. We are looking forward to trialing new menus and products based on our consumer research." The Délifrance concept store is the final phase in a 12-month programme to launch Délifrance further into the consumer arena. As part of its plan to build and develop the Délifrance brand, the company has launched four new branded products into supermarkets, frozen mini croissants, pain au chocolat, pain au raisin and mixed petit pains. Dobbie continued: "Délifrance has never exploited its full potential in the UK. The company produces over 600 premium products for the foodservice market and with a 25-year reputation as the worldwide French bakery products leader, we have the manufacturing, distribution and marketing experience - and the confidence - to take our products and our brand into the supermarkets and on to the high street. "If the concept is successful, we will review the recruitment of new franchisees in a very controlled way, taking only the franchisees that adhere totally to the principles of this new concept and fully respect the use of our trademark." He added: "Our long-term aim is to create a profitable and desirable franchise operation where both current and potential future franchisees benefit from our expertise and reputation and more consumers than ever taste the true Délifrance experience."
