£200k Backing For Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

A new franchisee business, which is injecting glamour into children's parties all over the country, has opened its first training centre with backing from Merseyside Special Investment Fund (MSIF).

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun was set up by a single mum three years ago and specialises in pamper parties for girls aged from four to 14.

The £215,000 funding package includes a £50,000 loan from MSIF, support from HSBC and director's own investment. The cash will be invested in further expansion of the business, new staff, training and marketing.

The craze for pamper parties amongst children is a fast growing trend. Already Girls Just Wanna Have Fun has run over 2000 parties and has five franchises across the country.

Qualified staff known as "pampticians" run the events and are fully vetted and trained to meet with health and safety requirements. Guests can enjoy a choice of beauty treatments and activities including hair design, nail art, dressing up, karaoke, jewellery creation, make-up application and facials.

Director Sue Leverick said: "Ros came up with the idea after running some themed parties for her young daughter which were hugely popular with her friends. We developed and promoted some of the ideas and demand just rocketed. Now we aim to increase the number of franchises to 153 and take on nine new staff in the next nine months, and a further 15 over the next three years.”

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun run the children parties for two hours and charge from £120 for between six and ten children. A new range of themes is being developed so that boys can enjoy tailor made parties too.
