Famous Uncle Al's Hot Dogs Named Best Hot Dog Restaurant by Virginia Beach, Va. Newspaper Readers Quality Restaurant Ventures, Inc. and Famous Food Group has announced that Famous Uncle Al's Hot Dogs has been named the "Best Hot Dog Place" in Virginia Beach, Va., for the 12th year in a row by readers of the Virginian-Pilot newspaper. "Famous" Uncle Al Stein, founder of the hot dog chain, said he was pleased and honored because the people of Virginia Beach choose the winners. "It really means a lot to name us the best twelve years in a row," said Stein. "We strive to grill the best hot dog and I'm glad a lot of people think we do." The Virginian-Pilot Reader's Choice Awards are given annually and celebrate what readers deem "The Best of the Beach." Winners are chosen in several categories from best sushi bar to best bikini shop. Famous Uncle Al's holds the record for most years as top hot dog restaurant. Famous Uncle Al's Hot Dogs currently has 6 stores located in the greater Virginia Beach, Va. area. The chain is expanding rapidly into Florida. One store is already open in Deltona, Fla., with several development deals signed and 3 additional locations currently under construction. Richard Michael, Director of Marketing for Famous Uncle Al's, said he is excited the chain continues to be readers' top hot dog restaurant. "Next year I hope we can win in Virginia and in Florida." QRVI recently acquired a part of Famous Food Group to combine economies of scale in marketing, purchasing and accounting and to help Famous Uncle Al's Hot Dogs attract larger and more sophisticated developers.
